Service Description

Abhyanga Massage and Herbal Steam Treatment

Abhyanga is an ancient Ayurvedic Massage treatment. It is different to the average massage we receive in the west. A generous amount of herbal medicated oil is heated and lathered all over the body whilst long strokes and other massage techniques are utilised depending on your current state of balance. Deep tissue and strong/firm pressure is not the aim of an abhyanga massage. The subtleness of the massage effects the subtleness of our energies, deeply relaxing the nervous system and in turn relaxing the muscles and releasing mental and physical tension. Energetic channels known as meridians and pressure points known as marmas are also acknowledge and worked on where needed during the treatment. Abhyanga stimulates the lymphatic system and moves toxins from within the tissues of the body. This treatment is often followed by Swedana (sweating) with the option for a herbal steam post abhyanga to sweat out toxins released during the treatment.
The skin is the largest organ of the body. The herbal oils are infused through this organ to give great effect internally as well as externally.

*Please note, Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic treatment and may not be suited for your condition. It is not recommended for women whilst at the beginning of their cycle (during menstruation). You will be informed if this treatment is not beneficial to you and not recommended to proceed. An Initial Ayurvedic Consult can be continued to further understand your state of balance and suggested treatment plan given.*

Abhyanga Massage Treatment ~ Annabelle

"Following my appointment I experienced some incredible body shifts - this possibility was discussed with me during consultation. I experienced some headaches and body aches for three days following, which once disappeared left me feeling extremely grounded, light and spacious. You could say re-calibrated.
Bridie has so much to share and for us to experience. I can’t get enough! So a huge thank you for your teachings and knowledge on and off of the yoga mat Bridie."
